Feed aggregation as "multiude"

Many bloggers join the "Eyes on Tibet" movement and I have made a page that shows recent entries about Tibet of them.
This page is produced by Yahoo Pipes service.
All feeds of the bloggers are aggretated and filtered by words "Tibet". This aggregation makes a feed itself. The generated feed contains various entries with variouse levels and viewpoints of the bloggers.

It can be used by many other services like
  • making a badge you can see right sidebar of this blog
  • Eyes on Tibet tumblr for archiving
  • start page service like iGoogle, My Yahoo, netvibes (see the Yahoo pipes page for detail)
I think this kind of feed aggregation can be cocieved as an instanciation of "multitude".

No need for "center" of the movement. Bloggers write entries just as they do everyday. They can write about not only political themes but also musics they like, programming, net services they use, lunch menus they cooked for or ate with their partners. Their blogs have no unique goal just as their everyday lives but some part of them aggregates and generate a big common concern and can be shown as a "Eyes on Tibet today" page.

And you can use the generated results any way as you like.

Agile activist

I'm a programmer and we, programmers, are shifting our way of making softwares. We call it "agile".

The old way or heavyweight methodorogies have many things you must do. "Agile" dose not and has some "practices" you'd better do.

I think this change can be applied to "Eyes on Tibet" movement.

We can call a person "Agile Activist" if he is doing what he thinks he should do or like to do. Let's share practices "you can do it do if you like", instead of something you must do.

The three princeples of "Eyes on Tibet"

1. Tibet is not our first concern.

There are many sites or movements for people who cares about Tibet as first concern.

This is a movement for who have concern about Tibet with many other things.

We are expressing just how much and what we care and visualizing decentrized weak concern.

2. Don't waste too much energy today, keep it for tommorow

One link per day may be not enough for your emotion today. If so, keep the energy for future and continue linking for long time.

3. Get more attention for Tibet not by Tibet

Your readers read your blog not because you write about Tibet but your own topics.

Keep your topics and your style. No need to force readers think about Tibet or follow the links.

Rather, write more interesting entries and get more attention so that some of them join us and keep their eyes on Tibet with you.

Eyes on Tibet

"Eyes on Tibet" is a movement for bloggers with weak concern about Tibet that suggests putting one link to any URL about Tibet per day.

You need not write an entry about Tibet. Just keep blogging with your everyday style and put just one link with word "Eyes on Tibet" if you feel this link expresses your concern.

The messsage of it is there are may "Eyes on Tibet" of people who don't have deep interest but think of people in Tibet, what's happening to them.

I think Activists are important but visualizing a bunch of weak interests is also impotant, expressing it just as is is very important.

And don't waste long time for selecting which URL you should link. Pick it up casually from digg or any social bookmarking service you use.

Search for "tibet" at digg.com

This movement focuses on decentrized weak concerns. It suggests your readers just to see it. Not force to think or behave in any uniform way. It may be different. What people think after seeing it should be different.

The message is there are many "Eyes on Tibet" of various poeple all over the world.

I hope people in Tibet and China know it.
